At first I was going to wait until my friend uploads the whole video and photo report before writing this. But it looks like it’ll take quite a while before he finally had the chance to do it, so I’m doing this earlier.

Apparently international relationship is a SERIOUS BUSINESS. The opening ceremony of this Expo was opened by our president, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono accompanied by Japan’s ex-prime minister Yasuo Fukuda, our national newspaper chairman Jakob Oetama, and Nikkei’s CEO (forgot his name). A lot of famous Japanese companies put up stands, and we also got to see some exhibition of their cultures. 3D Shinkansen movie; real Japanese obake (ghost house); kendo, igo, and kimono exhibition; and even a performance by some real classic Japanese musicians with koto, shamisen, and such.

Anyway, the Balalaika Dance competition that I was going to enter was cancelled because there was no enough participants D:. There were only two - me and this one girl (Shirley). To compensate with the cancellation we got a time slot to perform the dance. But still, it’s irritating to not be informed about the cancellation.

When the MC asked why we’re going this far to cosplay as Miku, I innocently answered "Because Miku is moe." Turns out he doesn’t know what moe is, lol. I tried to explain simply with "Moe is beautiful things." My friends who heard this protested to me after that. I myself, regretted it deeply. I mean, how could you possibly explain that as "Moe: The thing that burns every otaku’s souls with passionate flame of love. Be honest to your heart! Moe is the only truth! Moe is the way of live! VIVA MOE!" in front a crowd (I assumed 99% of them are plebeians and weeabos)? OTL.

After the event, my friends performed the Yaranaika dance to counter attack the Balalaika dance, lol. Four guys shamelessly dancing like that in front of the crowd… Fun times XD.

They still did some stupid things after that, like this Gaijin parody and Yaranaika pose (too bad their clothes didn’t have zippers to open!).
